i recently installed a cfm performance airbox. looks amazing on the bike, but am having a couple issues.

issue #1: where would be the best place to run my ground (negative) from my battery. im very leary to run a ground to the airbox itself because i know that aluminum isnt a very good conductor. i also would like to not have to make a new ground strap to run it all the way out of airbox to a ground strap.

issue #2: because the new air box is an inch or two longer than plastic factory piece, the air tube that goes from the air box to the carbuertor isnt bolting up right. i cut the small vent tube like you are supposed to so that it fits in the round hole of the new air box, but it is getting kinked severely when i try bending it onto the carb. does anyone know of any fixes or aftermarket parts?

thank you very much

When i installed one a few years ago i had zero problems with the intake tube fitting. How did you mount it? On mine the rear mount wrapped around the back of the subframe where the seat latch is. And i ran my ground right to the 10mm seat latch mounting bolt. I cleaned the paint away from the under side of the bolt it made the ground wire like 4 inches long. Worked really well. I wonder though if cfm changed there mounting or box design in some way?

as for the ground strap, that will probably work. the air box mounts using the bolt fro the seat latch closest to the motor. i can post a picture of it in a few minutes if that helps.

Thanks for the quick response!!!

Yeah post a picture. They changed the way they mount for sure. I had to drill 2 holes with there bracket system they had before.

Mine also bolts up to the closest bolt for the seat clip.

I ran my ground through a hole in the side of the airbox to the side of the frame where the toolbox tube would normally bolt to.

Are you sure the carb is sitting properly in the intake manifold?

Now thats some hard core wire looming right there! Good lord! Cars have less wire loom work haha.
Every inch of electrical, oil lines, brake cables, clutch cable.... lol

I had to cut a piece out of the clutch cable loom because it sat too close to the header and started to melt haha

As far as I know it's sitting in there right (isn't many ways to install it wrong) but I've also tried moving it and the hose around, but can't seem to bend them in a way that doesn't bend the hose so bad that it completely cuts off airflow

Sometimes it's hard to get the carb to sit all the way in the manifold, just wanted to make sure yours was sitting all the way in so you have as much clearance as possible.

Throw some pics up if you can

**problem solved**

thank you all for your help. after sending some emails to the fellows over at cfm, they informed me that in fact, the rear bracket does go the other way and wrap around where the seat latch goes. the reason that this was installed this way, however, is because that is the way i unboxed it and so i assumed that it was supposed to
go on that way.

i appreciate all of your guy's help. for sure plan to spend more time on the forums!
