If you have Verizon, they have the Casio G'z One phones. They are water resistant up to so many feet (I can't remember), dust, and shock proof. I had one of their older ones and could take pictures under water. I also let one of my friends throw it as hard as he could at the side of a barn, and all that happend was the batter fell off. Put it back in and it was fine. My dad uses it now with no problems.

He wants permanent, not plastic baggies.

Put an ammo can of whatever size you'd like on and see where you want it, then drill holes in the bottom of the can, use U bolts to secure it, put silicon in and around the holes. I bought my can with ammo and used it, but you can find empty ones in pawn shops, surplus stores, online, all for pretty cheap.

Another vote for the Casio G'z. I have had mine for a while and really like the fact that I don't worry about dropping it or getting it wet. Not a smart phone but for someone like me that just uses a phone to make/receive calls and occasionally for the camera function, it has been a very good purchase.

If you really want to protect it, just get a waterproof plastic container, large enough to hold your phone, glue some foam padding (like the egg crate stuff) on the lid and in bottom, then hot-melt glue it (or screw it) wherever you want it. The container will keep the water out and the foam will eliminate vibrations. Rubbermaid makes a good container series called Lock-It that has positive locking tabs and a rubber gasket in the lid. They will float and I use them all the time when camping. I use them to keep stuff cold and dry in my coolers.

I usually don't carry my cell when riding but I may start because last time I wrecked it took a while for someone to find me. Would have been nice to be able to call for help. For now I'm going to go for the zip lock bag, cheap and easy.
