Need some help: 2001 Honda Rancher 350 ES TRXTE. Initial issue was sputtering and no power to accelerate. Initially thought either old gas, possible water in gas or clogged carburetor jets. So I figured I would just go all in and manage the fix:

REBUILT ORIGINAL CARB - CHANGED OUT ALL OF THE JETS AND FLOAT

REPLACED ORIGINAL PETCOCK WITH NEW OEM PART

REPLACED FUEL LINE

REPLACED AIR FILTER

REPLACED SPARK PLUG

Bike now idles great, high five, but when I try to rev it up with the thumb accelerator, it bogs down and still doesn't feel like I have power. That said, tried popping it in 1st or 2nd gear for a ride and it goes nowhere!?! Would the pilot jet possible be the issue and need to be tuned or adjusted accordingly? I did screw it all the way in and backed it out at different stages with the same results. Thoughts?

Idles fine..that’s good. If u go to hot throttle she Boggs.. did u set the needle clip correct? If u hold it wot will it rev? Almost sounds like ur float is sticking?.. no fuel out of overflow?

Thank you for your response. Yes, hot throttle and she boggs and has a little popping. Are you talking about the needle that goes down into the top diaphram? If so, the diaphram was in great condition but I did change out the needle since I had it in the rebuild kit. Sputters and does not pull full RPM. I replaced the float and float needle since the original did not have that "springyness" to it. The new one does. No fuel coming out of the overflow from the bowl.

Had an old 250 the slide/diaphragm was stuck in the wide open (up) position, same symptoms. As soon as the butterfly opened a bit the bike would lean out and die. Are you sure the needle went down. Mirror and flash light time from air box.

Pretty sure the diaphragm is in the correct position. When I put the top cap back on the carb I was sure to make certain the diaphragm tab set correctly before screwing back down. I was able to see the needle set all the way through behind the butterfly.

You may have been on to something regarding the diaphragm! I'll admit, I bought an aftermarket carb as a potential fix ($34 on Amazon, as well as, an OEM rebuild kit). Fortunately, I quickly realized, out of the box, it looked the same but did not have the same vent tube connections (most cast/sealed) or the same plastic heater assembly connection as the OEM. So, I stuck with the OEM, soaked it, cleaned it out completely and put it back on the bike. I did, however, replace all of the jets with the OEM replacement kit and took some stuff off the "impostor" to see what would work. I just now replaced the entire diaphragm assembly from the impostor. It is still idles great and I now actually have "better" acceleration when I hit the throttle. RPM's have improved enough for me to ride it out of the driveway but still seeking advice on possibly tuning the carb. RPM's sounds like they will get better as things break in but wondering if the pilot jet at the bottom of the carb outside the bowl, now, could be the culprit?

Thank you. Sorry for the long message but I like to be as thorough as I can. Please, all, chime in!

Make sure your float setting is right.

Still have great idle, float and pin are 90 degrees (or 20 degrees leveled), better RPM with throttle but still a little popping. Thinking the idle mixture screw needs to be adjusted but it's a pain to get too without an off set, long screw driver tool I really don't wanna spend $24 on. Anyone use use something like this for easier adjustment? Came across a YouTube video advertising this for a Harley carburetor.
