2005 Rancher 350, 2 WD, 101.7 Hours
It has been since June 2018 that my ATV has ran/run.
Here's the story.
My leg was amputated in 2014. I had ridden my ATV all that year. Then, in Dec. 2014 I had a Hematoma on my stump. I have been in and out of the hospital with stump problems and have barely walked between 12/2014 and 2/2019. Good news is I'm walking now, but not over doing it.
The problem is, I keep my 4 wheeler at my dads in his barn. He lives on 42 acres and wanted to use my ATV while I wasn't. I told him to use NON ETHANOL gas ONLY! And, turn the gas off each time he was thru riding. Well, he did exactly opposite of what I asked. He was using rock gut ethanol gas (Wal-Mart/MURPHY). The carburetor became all gummed up and was leaking. He decided to let his yard boy/helper (18 years old) try to rebuild the carburetor without telling me. Well, he @*%&# engineered the carburetor and walked away from it. This was in June 2018. It hasn't run since then. It needs a rebuild/or a new carburetor and a battery.
My Q?'s; Should I have the carburetor rebuilt, or buy a new one? Of course, I want an ATV mechanic to do the work. Can anyone give me an "ABOUT" estimate at what I'm looking at if I get it rebuilt, or get a new carburetor? I live in La. if that helps any.
THANK YOU! :smile

Great question
Glad to hear you’re healing up –Will you be up to riding it soon? Folder to service manuals

I pay the local Honda shop to service my work machines and recently had my carbs rebuilt on 05-06 Ranchers. Cost me $400 to get carbs rebuilt and a complete service.

Carb rebuild on a removed TRX300 was $275 included a starter valve and primer pump

The carbs aren’t too bad to rebuild yourself. Consult the service manual for carb model number before you buy—hundreds of carbs out there—only oem is best

What's up Cajun Guy from South of I -12 --------- A rebuilt carb for your model really is not bad of a price at $150 , sounds like you are going to let someone do the work for you , a new carb takes away a lot of problems that could occur ----- something that is very important no matter what way you decide to go , clean the tank to perfection as any particles that are left in the tank will contaminate the rebuilt or new carb and you be right back at the same place

a hour, and a rebuild kit from shindy, and you can do this for about 25 boucks with the help of the service manual. or, you can buy a new oem carb from honda, and go that route. I hate working on the trx350 ranchers, not because they are bad atvs ?!, but because the float needle seat on most of these models ALWAYS LEAK !. seems honda got a bad batch of carbs for these models ?, cuz almost everyone i've seen or had my hands on ?, they all leak from a defective float needle seat !.
