Before you go any further with your carb replacement I have to ask, is the new replacement OEM or Chinese? If it's Chinese you will be wasting your time fitting it.
carburetor cap
I bought a new carburetor for my 02 trx250ex and it the carburetor cap is has a wider diameter than the original. I can't figure out for the life of me how to remove the old carburetor cap from the throttle cable.

I've never used a Chinese carb but from what I gather you can use the rubber parts (if they fit) but your better off buying new OEM jets/screws etcThanks for letting me know... I guess I'll just do some serious cleaning on it. Do you think some of the components from the knockoff (ie, rings, gaskets, springs,bolts, screws, floats, etc.) can be used to replace original parts?
Just to add... Dental floss is great for cleaning inside those jets and tiny holes too ;-)
