I would say there's still something in the idle circuit or either the float is sticking and it's flooding. Did you clean out the passageways in the carb body?

When it's popping, is any black smoke coming out the exhaust? If there is, I would say it's flooding. If not, I would say something's in the idle circuit. Also, did you adjust the pilot screw?

clean the jets out with just one wire from a wire brush..hold them up to a good light source..if they are clean..you should be able to see though them..make sure you poke the wire through the side of the jets too..if you spray your carb down with..say..gum out..< this is the best i've found on the market >..make sure you remove all rubber pieces..0-rings..everything..or you will melt the rubber !..take the carb after your have cleaned it really good..and with a air compresser..blow every little nook and cranny out with air..re-assemble the carb..after your done getting it back on the bike..make sure you don't have any cracks in your intake boot..this will cause your bike to run like crap..it's probally a good time to check the intake boot when you have the carb off..it's alot easier to remove the boot this way..and inspect it.good luck.

I don't have a diagram for the Fourtrax 250 carb, but I have a diagram for a Fourtrax 300 carb. I can't remember if they use the same carb, but I'm thinking they do. I'll post the diagram and you should be able to look at it and tell if it's the same carb as the 250.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When you get aggravated, just take a break and work on it later. That's what I do.

I am assuming you have a Mikuni carburetor. You could be really leaning the bike out and it isn't getting enough fuel in the low end. But, I could also be wrong. Check your plug after running it full speed to fourth gear and killing the engine while it is still in the pipe and so forth.

You didnt accidently move the retainer clip on the Jet needle during the rebuild did you? Also check to see that its properly seated in the slide
