Trying to get solenoid for my 2004 Honda Recon 250 but PSN only has solenoids for 97-00 or '05-? They also have some Rancher ones for '04. Just wondering if anyway I can just buy those and use it? Will it work same?

It would probably work, but from what I found on eBay for a used 04 recon OEM they want about as much as a new one from partzilla I think it was like 17 dollars but I suppose you got shipping too which would probably be around 8 dollars, they always get you on the shipping unless you spend so much.

In theory you can use any solenoid. They are a relay that switches a large current to the the starter motor in response to a small control current. All that needs to be correct is the OUTPUT to the starter motor, other voltages (input to starter) are negligible.

So, another way of telling is a solenoid from another machine will work is to check if the starter motors are the same or same voltage etc etc.

It’s all well and good me saying the above, I have used different solenoids on other trucks, 4x4s and cars but I replaced the solenoid on my 300 for a used like for like part.

Hope this helps.

I have been buying the 420 stater solenoid for my 300's and 450 , on the 450 it will plug right in , the 300 I had to cut and splice the wires , Honda dealership in Slidell wanted $80 for a 450 solenoid and the 420 is $18 in Covington where the parts guy was kind enough to hook me up with that piece of knowledge

I know Partzilla has the stuff, just didn't like the prices so never looked at the solenoids. Exited that sight when I saw 90 bucks for a battery. Plus I read some complaints bout how they take forever to come in. But if y'all say use them, I'll use them and get proper solenoid.

Thanks! :)
