Hello all. Long time looker, first time poster. After some searching I've not found any info on my problem. I have a 06 rancher 350es. It will not shift. I can cycle the ignition switch and It will shift just once, then nothing. I can ride using my emergency shifter. All gears are operational. Also I do not have any display on my meter. It was fading months ago, then it went out. So I cant pull any codes off it. Is there a way to hook up a test light to the neutral gear wire to the meter so I can count the flashes during diagnostics mode?

Parts that were replaced.. all parts are honda oem.
Battery - old one had a bad cell

Shift switch on handle bar- replaced due to lights not working 2 months ago

Angle sensor just replaced. But I didnt reset ecm?

Any help will be appreciated

You'll need a functional display meter to read any stored DTC codes. First thing I'd do is clean and dielectric grease every harness connector on the bike. You'll have to take the fenders off. Once you are done with those, using a multimeter, check the gear position switch at its connector. Then check it again at the ECM connector (harness side). Make sure the ignition switch is turned off (or battery disconnected) whenever you open a connector.

Do you have a copy of the service manual yet?

Thanks for the info. I'll look at replacing the meter. I'll check back in a few days after I grease everthing. I just downloaded a manual.
