Larger displacement and more horsepower await new Foreman

According to documents from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the 2020 Honda Foreman is getting a bigger engine.

For the 2020 model year, CARB has certified a 518cc engine in the Honda Foreman. For reference, the 2019 Foreman features a 475cc engine. With the 43cc increase in displacement, the redesigned engine also sees a small bump to 30 horsepower — up from 28.7 horsepower.

I think it's cool. I'm excited to see a new engine, which hopefully means updates and improvements, and a little more power is welcome. Sure, I wouldn't mind if it said 40hp, but I've loved my Hondas as they are. I'm really excited to see if there are any other updates, like plastics or suspension, etc.

Does anyone know if the new jug will fit on the 420 yet?

Not yet, the 2020 Foreman’s have not even been officially released yet as far as I know. So no parts available to even try it.

My 420 isn't even close to needing a top end yet but to add about 98 cc's to it for a top end swap.........I may think about this one. I know everyone that there would only be about 4 to 5 horsepower increase but the torque increase would be impressive.

5hp isn’t a bad increase on a machine that only has about 25hp to start with though, 20% power increase is pretty significant.

It’d probably make 40hp if they didn’t care about commieforna’s air regulations. Legal in 49 states isn’t so bad, just flip through a summit racing catalog lol

I assume that everybody else is meeting the California emissions standards just fine. They need to go back to a OHC engine and get away from these newer pushrod engines and 4 valves per cylinder would be even better. Look at the old TRX350, they made 24hp from 350cc, the same as the 433cc 450 Foreman’s made with their 2 valve push rod engines....
Can-an has a 450 single cylinder, I assume it’s 4 valve I’m not 100% sure and I don’t know the exact displacement but I do know it has around 38hp. Why can’t Honda build something like that?

A solid rear axle with two widely spaced adjustable rear shocks . . . .
Two taillights . . . .
For those of us that like a utilitarian quad . . . .
