Change the oil/filter when it quits using oil. Some people like to change early on to get rid of metal wear.

I'm a change it as soon as it gets warmed up kind of guy - too late for that with you. I'd change it now but I also have a magnetic drain plug to know when the peach fuzz metal amount stops appearing.

I went and just changed it , figure I will run it another 50 miles and change it again
this sounds like a good plan to me.
I personally would have changed it after say 4-6 heat cycles, get it up to temp, run some and shut it down, , repeat a few times, and then drain oil and filter, this gets anything floating about to settle from oil being heated to the bottom, and then drain it on the rather warm side of oil too, to get things to flow OUT
I also, am a guy that liked to run some CLEAN NEW oil thru the motor with drain plug still OUT< to help flush anything else out, before re installing plug and refilling!
and then repeat this in say 50-100 miles., and from there you should be as good as it gets IMO< LOL
