Good morning, I am new to the forums and have a ton of questions. I have a 2005 Rincon 650 that has been in a barn for the better part of a decade. I figured the wires were probably gnawed away by rats and there would be no way to get her running again. I pulled it out about a month ago, sprayed her off at the carwash really well and hooked a new battery - shockingly, everything came on. I think the last time this bike actually ran was in 2011. I took the tank off and cleaned it out really well, replaced the carburetor, fuel tank petcock, the fuel sending unit, spark plug, plug wire, and air filters - and it cranked right up! I haven't changed the oil yet but Im doing that tonight. I took out on the road just to see if it would pull, but it wont get above 20 MPH and wont automatically shift past 2nd. I can electrically shift it all the way up the chain but that wont make it run any faster - of course. Im not very mechanically apt so I really dont know where to start - any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I guess I didnt post this in the right place being introductions and all. Anyway, Im from Mississippi and havent really had much time to hunt and such in the last few years. Hunting is the only thing I use this Rincon for. Its pretty much a tool to allow me to get to where I like to hunt and bring deer out if needed.

from the sounds of it ^^^ , this has the auto tranny..correct ?, if it has a broken part in the tranny ?, you got a paper weight, you can not fix that tranny. but I would start out with a fresh oil change, and the CORRECT OIL AT THAT !. DO NOT USE AUTO OIL !!!!, ONLY USE OIL MADE FOR ATVS/MOTORCYCLES..WET CLUTCH APPROVED !.

Yeah I ordered the OEM oil change kit from Honda - Honda oil and filter. I dont think the transmission is broken though. It runs great - just not over 20 to 26 miles per hour. I read something somewhere about if something goes awry electronically, the computer will default to the "try to get me home" mode - or something like that. Im going to disconnect the battery when I get home to reset the computer and see what that does. Other than that, and the oil change that I have planned, Im not sure what to do.

Yup - that's what its it in right now. From what I understand, it could be a hundred different combinations of things that I'm looking at. Probably going to a dealer.

Yeah no kidding. The thing is, the bike is paid for - has been for a while. I kicked around the idea of getting another one but thought, if I can get this one working then why spend the money. Hopefully I wont have to.
