Congratulations on the purchase and I will share with you my way of doing a break in. I’m confident there are many different theories out there, i.e., drive it like you sold it, etc., but I’m not that guy. However, you do have a Honda, so chances are you can’t screw this up, LOL.

1. Strongly suggest looking at the owner’s manual for details.
2. Personally, I consider the first 100 miles/20 hours as the “break in” period.
3. You will need to change the oil at 100 miles or 20 hours whichever comes first, but that may vary for a Rincon, but stated in my Foreman/Rancher units.
4. Over the course of 100 miles, I would vary the throttle (speed traveling) as much as possible making it shift through all the gears.
5. I would avoid wide open until after the break in period.

Thanks. Well i got a one year warranty and in 20 hours ima have to bring her back in for a service or it voids it. So basically your telling me to take it easy. So it properly switches gears and etc. sounds good. Ill definitely read the owners manual also! Thanks bud.

I personally have a great working relationship with my dealer and wouldn't hesitate taking something to them for service. Since you are taking it back to the dealer, you might have them at 20 hours adjust the valves while doing the routine service....

I've read that guy before and honestly, I wouldn't let any of my stuff get within 100 miles of him. He is either a scammer (tear up your stuff like this, so we can weasel money out of your wallet fixing it!!!) or he is exceptionally stupid & ignorant. Can't solve or fix either of those problems so its best to avoid him altogether.

And to be honest, Hondas breakin guidelines are nothing I'd ever follow either. Wait 20 hours before changing the oil and filter or adjusting the valves? No way man!

I've never bothered reading any of his other stuff to say whether I'd ever let him work on my stuff or not. it's just always the link I use to say "don't baby your engine during break-in, but don't free-rev it with no load on the engine either"

I didn't mean to make it sound personal so I apologize. But the guy is probably a paid industry shill. Industry groups employ "Marketing" (LOL) companies to publish insane nonsense on the Internet which boosts their collective profits immensely when/if people actually follow their terrible advice. Gazillions of folks don't know any better and get suckered into doing bad things. Every industry employs these "Sincere" guys & gals to fleece the ignorant, who are just looking for someone to say its OK. We'd each be more helpful if we'd point our fingers directly at the criminals... and say whatever you do, don't get suckered by these paid shills... not send them traffic that they might profit from.

Sorry for my rant! I just can't stand parasites and criminals!
