My rear diff has all new Boss. I said I would NEVER run Allballs again because of the trouble I encountered years ago with their wheel bearings. BUT... I couldn’t get Honda or Boss swing arm bearings in time for my rebuild, so I broke down & installed Allballs. I always try to run OEM Honda.

I’ve ran both, they seem to be the same quality. Pivot works isn’t bad, but I always always run OEM Honda parts. They are defiantly the best.

I’m specifically talking about front wheel bearings I should have mentioned that. Damn near anything will last in a diff since they are immersed in oil 100% of the time.

I just get the bearing out and take it to a local place that rebuilds electric motors and get either nachi or national. I have found that both boss and all balls come with zero grease in them right out of the box. If you pack them with grease they last a year or so. Sometimes alittle longer. I have had nachi bearings in almost everything i own and yet to have a failure on the bearings part yet. Only other brand i have is national carrier bearings. They will blow any other bearing out of the water for longevity in the abuse those bearings take. My .02

Well then.............

In my experience.... DO NOT INSTALL ALLBALL WHEEL BEARINGS!!!!!! I have tried them twice on my old quad. They don't compare to HONDA bearings at all. On my quad I have now, I have paid top dollar & installed OEM wheel bearings. I found they will out last ANY aftermarket bearing.

Again, this is my opinion (which you asked for opinions!)

most interesting... there was a bearing company, in louisville, that sold bearings, about 2002. they were a good company. now, i have to look them up, to see if they are still in business. i havent thought of an electric motor place, as far as bearings go, but a great ideal.:smile

Dick's Cycles hooked me up with some life time warrantied bearings for the front wheel bearings on my 300 , CRS is kicking in as I can't remember the brand name of them right now , I really don't have a lot of hours on the red 300 since they were installed

Probably Pivotworks.

They are actually marked "Pivotworks" on the race.

From what Charlie said, the only bad thing is you have to send in the old bearings and wait for replacements, so you still really need a 2nd set on hand. Swap them in, and then send back the old ones and they'll send a set of replacements.

Also is only good for ONE replacement set, so the "lifetime" is a bit misleading.

Mac, I've run both Boss and All Balls.

I put in one set of All Balls, they lasted maybe a year.

I got a second set and they were out of spec. I thought my knuckle was trash, so I knocked the new All Balls bearing out to put it in another knuckle and discovered that the bearing, not the knuckles, was the problem.

I haven't bought an All Balls bearing since, and have used Boss in a few machines. My 06 right front needs to be replaced, so the Boss aren't super long lasting either, but held up longer than the first set of All Balls bearings I put in.

That said, I used cheap marine grease when I repacked the All Balls, and Mobil red Syn grease in the Boss.

Point being, I haven't done exactly the same with Boss and All Balls. Slight differences in the way things were done.

The last few sets I've put in have been Pivotworks. So far they have held up very well.

I use pivotworks. Found a guy that was selling them on ebay for $25 shipped for both fronts. Bought 5 sets to have in stock. I still pack them with good lucas grease.

Oh man, I hate mentioning that I put All balls in my rear diff; especially that you tagged shadetree now. The shame...

Been going great for over a year now and that's riding in the snow, pulling trailer loads of wood etc. Back when I did that I had just bought my house and wood lot so I couldn't rub 2 cents together. Credit margin was loaded and credit cards were starting as well; figured I needed a ride but couldn't afford the quality. Next time I pull it apart (obviously that time will come, because it's allballs) I'll replace with quality bearings and have peace of mind.

For my current experience though, its been going fine. That being said, it's no wheel bearing either, it's swimming in diff oil non-stop so it's not as bad.

I didn't know about one time replacement in a lifetime ----- but can understand it as I might have bankrupted them ----- we talked before about drilling , tapping and a grease zerk on the hub and being able to grease them , I think that would extend the life dramatically for me

One is all balls one is boss. I bought both, wanted to compare. Personally I rarely ever use anything but OEM wheel bearings but, a certain member who seems absent from this thread boasted about how good Boss was compared to All Balls.....so here we are.

Not sure how much more I should say about Boss, being a sponsor here I’ll likely get booted and this thread will disappear....

FYI one bearing was packed full of grease and the other barely had any. You might be surprised which was which.

I’m going to order some dirt cheap bearings off eBay to see how they compare to these.
