to clean it really well yes, but most of the time you CAN just spray it in while the bike is running, i wouldnt really reccomend it, we do usually only spray the carb cleaner into throttle bodys on trucks to clean em out. but taking it off is the right way and makes it last longer before it has to be done again

All of you guys are experiencing a dirty air filter or carb. These carbs are extremely sensative to dirt even the tiniest of dirt will clog the inside of these carbs. I would suggest a good cleaning to all of them

Ok i understand the carbs are extreamely sensitive to dirt and wheat ever can get in there but my 450 isnt even a week old and the air filter is a 2 day old K&N.I would hate to think that i have to take the carb appart ever week to clean it because than takes away from fun. THX

Well 09trx450R your issue is you installed an after market filter my question to you is did you rejet the carb to compensate for the increase in airflow? did you remove the airbox lid? if so put it back on and try it. lastly did you put an aftermarket exhaust on? if you did not rejet chances are you are too lean you have created more airflow with the K&N leaning out the balance of air/fuel from stock. I would step up a size on the main.

Yep my 450 did the same thing. When you stab the gas it would bog for half a second that launch. Get your machine jetted correctly. These come jetted stock for sea level.

You can save yourself alot of money by doing it yourself I would jump a couple sizes on the main jet try it with the box lid on then off see what you got.
We are glad to help you out bro that's what this forum is all about

Agree, try to go up one size on the main jet, maybe 2. It is easy, on the very bottom of your carb there is a 17mm bolt. Remove that(gas will drain, so be prepared) then get a 6mm deep socket and put it up that hole that the 17mm plugged. The only thing you will be able to grab is the main jet. Remove that and change it. The needle jet holder might come out with it but not a big deal. Just swap out the jet and put it all back in there. Just finger tighten everything with the socket. These are made of brass and can break easy.
