I have a completely stock 400 and I know nothing about engines. I want to get it bored to something bigger. I don't race. Maybe in the future. I just joy ride and go on trails ever once in a while. I'm looking at hot rods cranks and I want the 460 stroker crank and the stage 3 hot cam. I dont k kw what kind of piston to get. Can someone help me? Are the 460's reliable if I'm not racing and really pushing it hard?

460ex is going to require alot of cooling mods. If your trail riding and trail ride like we do. Fairly slow paced. Stop and have a few beverages and watch crazy people climb hills. You are going to over heat that thing like crazy. I would suggest against the 460. I highly suggest you get ahold of a reputable engine machine shop for the bore+hone work. If they dont ask for the piston when they do the final bore turn and run! They dont know what they are doing. A good machinist will taylor make the piston fit the cylinder. I run wiseco. Alot of people like JE and CP pistons. Stay away from namura and niche IMO. My .02
