Bought a Marlin 45/70 Trapper, 35” long and looking to mount on the rear side of the front rack. Would prefer being able to access in a hurry, if need be. Any suggestions or pictures of a width wise mounted rifle?

I don't have pictures handy at the moment, but everyone in my hunting crew has had great luck over the years with Kolpin Rhino grip mounts. They have many models, and none have let any of us down.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up buying the Rhino Grips, I mounted them for fishing gear, but, will be remounting them for the 45/70 soon.

These work well . . . Mounted on a 'Cypress cedar' 2x4 . . much more stable than the Kolpin rack clamp system. Can be removed in a few minutes. The Cypress cedar is a waterproof/rot proof species . . common here.
