i have a bent rear axle and it is going to cost 400$ to get a new one installed and it still runs but how long do you think it will ride before the bearings come loose or break?
I would say that your guess is as good as the next person's, on that question. I doubt if anybody will be able to answer that question with any certainty. I know I don't have any idea.
That $400 could turn into more...keep riding it and you could be looking at replacing bearing carrier...along w/ bearings...that alone will cost a few hundred. But to answer your question....flip a coin.
yep..replace the axle now..or wait it out..and replace alot more down the road. try finding an axle from bikebandit.com..or even ebay..thats what i would do..i'm sure there is a cheaper axle out there somewhere...try to locate a salvage yard somewhere..surely someone has an extra laying around.
Just spent $450 on a new axle and $80 on new bearings and seals and $230 on a anti fade breakhub and lock nut, replace your bearings now or you will spend a lot more later.
