This is my first post, and not happying to be posting unfortunately :S

I have an 09 fourtrax 420 canadian trail edition.

I'll try to describe this the best i can without pictures.

behind the front bumper, there the winch would normally go or behind it, there is a piece of frame going across from left to right its flat and has 3 holes in it about the size of a quarter.

When i was stuck, i went to take a piss and my friend who doesnt have a clue hooked the winch into one of those holes and pulled me out.

When i looked the piece i described was bent out , not too bad but enough to notice and enough to piss me off lol, i was able to bend it back using a combonation of a rubber mallot and a pair of plyers. i dont think it was bent bad enough to bend anything else connected to it.

just wondering what your opinions are on this? do you think theres a chance something else could be damaged? what is that cross member for anyways? can just that piece be replaced? i dont think its a big deal but im really particular over my new ATV and it was a stupid mistake to start with. i googled this but couldnt find anything, partly because i dont know the proper name for where the hooked the winch on. any adivce would be appreciated.

If you can snap a pic you can upload it to the forum so we can see it.

I have a foreman, not a rancher but if it's the part I'm thinking about I doubt it will matter. I'm very particular about my stuff too, but after you get a few more scratches and dings you won't worry about it anymore, so just let it go. ;)

Yea i was thinking the same, i will probly forget about it after a while. Last night i actually had to get outta bed and go straighten it out it was driving me nuts hahahaha. I'll get a pic up later and see what you think. I also dont think its a huge deal i just wanted to be sure. I was also concerned it might effect my warranty somehow or another. It moreso pisses me off becuse i have a brand new bike and it wasnt me that hooked it on, i know my friend meant well but god damn. haha

if it's the part where the vin # is stamped..nah..don't worry about it..they only put that in there to use for the vin number..it doesn't support anything worth worrying about...oh..if you want to feal good about doing damage to it yourself..go out and give it a good kick..break a piece of the plastic..then you know you done it !..lol.

I'm not close to my machine so I cant go take a peek at it, but given what I know about Shadetree, I'd trust him. :)

It's my experience with these things that they can take a lickin and keep on tickin, and usually the rider comes out a lot worse for wear than the machine. I'd not lose any sleep over it, or at least not any more sleep.

cool man. i was just worried i may have had something damaged in the suspension area or the main frame or wahtever, but looking at that piece i think it would just break or crack before it would even have a chance to affect anythging else.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a welded piece so there's no way to replace it without replacing the frame anyway. I'd just make sure that it's straightened back out and if any paint is missing, I'd touch it up with a rattle can to prevent rust.

yes i noticed too thats it welded, which sucks, but i got it straightend out and i dont think it really effected anything else. Forunately i used a cloth inside the plyers so there isnt really any paint off of it.
