Hi folks new to here... I have a question...What does it mean that when my 96 foreman shuts off soon as I disconnected my battery?

first off, welcome to the site,m
your battery is bad or when you disconnect it, these atv;'s do need a battery to keep running so? no battery no running ?
replace battery with a new one and you will be good for 5 yrs or more if you take care of it

mbrr; i never tried to disconnect the battery while the atv was running. done it with cars an such. i didnt know you could do this with the atv.. mine is 2000es 450. another iron in my slow burn fire..:smile

Don't do that! Unless you are very wealthy...? If thats the case then carry on!

never run them without a battery !, you will burn out your stator, reg/rec by doing this. never heard of one dying when the battery gets unhooked ?, cars used to do this wayyyyy back years ago, and this was a sign of a bad alternator. not sure if this is the case with atvs ?, as I've never seen this happen. i'll say this, if I had to guess ?, either your reg/rec is bad ?, or your stator is bad ? ( alternator ).
