I have a 95 300trx.Won't start from starter but kick starts fine.Checked voltage while running,it fluctuates from 10-13 volts.When I turn on the lights and rev it voltage drops to 5-9 volts,fluctuating.While at idle the neutral light flickers as do the lights if on.If I'm running it with the lights on they get real dim but when I come to a stop they brighten up but flicker.Is this my battery or a charging issue?

Welcome to the forums. It could be either. I would charge the battery up and then test it (load test) or have it tested. It sounds more like a bad battery, but I can't be sure without testing it.

Yup... sounds like a short. Whether it's on the bike or internal to the battery is hard to say. Helmut is right about starting with a good battery charged and tested.

X2 I think you got a good starting suggestion... new battery then test the charging system.
