Leave it alone it's not really going to hurt anything. Honda wants you do install it that way so you can read it without taking it apart just like you figured.

It's just good practice because you can screw over the next guy that has to repair it, and in my experience the next guy is usually me....

Sometimes you don't have that luxury, I work on a lot more then just ATV's. At this point the deed has been done, leave it as is. But numbers facing out on bearings is just a good habit to get into.

As far as replacing the case half goes.....of course I replace the bearing Lol unless I've already ruined the case, which isn't unlikely either lol

Ok what's the number for that pinion bearing the OP installed, I don't want the Honda P/N the Honda dealer is 5 hours away, I got a big ride coming up this weekend and I have to get the bearing at my local shop, I had the diff apart before but installed the bearing backwards and can't read the number, I need to order it in the next half hour before they close or it won't get here for the big ride.......
