I need some help. I have an auxiliary backup light I mounted on my rear rack. I don't want a switch to turn it on/off each time I backup in the dark. I want to somehow wire it into the red backup indicator light on the console so that when I put it in reverse, the power to that indicator light will act as a switch and turn on the auxiliary backup light. I see a white and black wire. Can someone tell me or draw me a wiring diagram on how to wire this? Do I need a relay? Or can I tap into the relay I have for my winch or front auxiliary lights? I just do not want a separate switch to activate it. Thanks in advance.

I would think the "trigger" would be the tap I make into the wires at the red indicator light. They are not "live" until reverse is activated. When the white goes live, it would "trigger" the aux backup light. Correct?

I wouldn’t wire it into the indicator light circuit.

But I would use a two circuit harness (like Auxbeam) with a control circuit and relay-controlled light circuit. That way the lights are powered directly from the battery but the relay is powered from the reverse switch circuit
