Looking to replace some ATV tires Need to know if anyone has had any experience with these type tires?
A local tire shop wants $361 for four 6 ply vee rubber brand mounted. Seems two of the VEE rubber 6 ply are about price of 4 of the massfx tires.

and also here for the set of KT type

I can get these tires for $32 less than the prices shown. My average price for 4 is around $190 for the MS type and $211 for the MT type. (unmounted) These are 6 ply rating. they don't have 8 ply.

I use the ATV for going thru brush and climbing flint rock ridges, no hard surfaces. I'm running over sticks and stobs, dead tree tops, etc, thru the woods deer hunting.

The worn out OEM tires that are now on the ATV are KT (directional type and are 4 ply Dunlop) and lived ok with minimum of tire plugs. I think only two of the existing Dunlops have tire plugs. The worn out ones have about 3500 miles on them all slow speed thru the woods.

KT seems to be a directional tire, maybe.

Get some Mud Bugs and call er a day...

Did you see that I'm not into any mud, I'm into flint rock hills and brush.

Thanks
I guess I took the "no hard surfaces" the wrong way....lol

I thought flint rock was a place or something..

Mud bugs are great for the bush... They are an all round tire to me.. Maybe you should look at them...

Maybe a Bighorn?
Ok. I'm mostly into small sharp flint rocks (like arrow head flints) climbing up steep hills and going through dead stick and stobs, brush tops.
I was little concerned that the lower prices might be indicator of something amiss, like China junk. 4 of these for about same price as two of some other makes for example.
I have another ATV that has some 4 ply MT's on it (different size) and the tires seem to be taking the rocks and brush ok but they are a different brand of tire. They are a really hard rubber type tire instead of soft rubber.

Thanks

I just now seen that the dealer has a set of 6 ply Bighorns (that you mentioned) and the lug tread appears to be the heavy hard lugs like is on my other rig that take sharp rocks good. About $200 for set of 4 if I go to the close by store for pickup.

I bought Dirt Devils (6 ply) for my Yamaha (2wd) and I have been nothing but impressed with the performance and the ride. It rides smooth on the road, and does very well on woods trails, and the occasional mud. I'm not sure if they are available for your bike but they are definitely worth looking at. Just trying to throw another idea out there for you.
The set I'm looking for will be for a Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. Please excuse me for mentioning the name Yamaha in this Honda forum.:wink

I'll take a look at them.

Thanks

Got a set of 6 ply non directional tread Bighorns from flea bay for approx $230 with free shipping.
25x10x12 rear, 25x8x12 front

Look like tough tires for rocks and brush. The new tires do not stand up as quite as high as the old OEM softer Dunlops, even though the same size. They look more like 24's when mounted on the machine.

Appears I could have went with a 26 or 27 tall on the Big Bear because the tires have a flat profile. But for $200 less than tires shops prices no complaints.
