Hey there! I'm new to the ATV scene. I've ridden mountain bikes for 20 years and still do, performing all my own maintenance and builds. Also train and teach Brazilian Jiujitsu. I've been after a Honda ATV for quite a while. At first I wanted like an 86 fourtrax that I thought I would fix up. I work on my Totyota Tacoma a fair bit, nothing crazy but normal maintenance and repairs that aren't too complex. I ended up with a 2006 trx350 ES. It's yellow and in OK shpae. It needs a lower right ball joint at the moment and I am installing a new hitch soon. I'll change the oil, diff fluids and air filter. The racks should be repainted too. I read about a heat gun to get the plastics shiny again. Does this actually work? Any other general tips?

We got the quad mostly as a work machine. I have a long, big driveway that takes forever to shovel and we have a 1/2 acre sloped property. My wife also always has yard project to get done. So it's official a work vehicle, but I'll sneak in some trail rides too. :wink

Thanks everyone! Good ideas alloutdoors. I'll do both.

So while I was installing a new winch - the factory one died apparently, I noticed the top roller on the fairlead is gone. The winch I got to replace it has different bolt spacing for the factory mount plate. Is there a way too get a factory fairlead?

The new mount plate for the winch I have does not look like it will fit the Honda. I'm drilling the factory plate to accommodate this new winch instead.

Sometimes it’s easier and cheaper to modify what you already have. There are a few roller fairleads available on eBay and in the pictures they give you the dimensions along with hole spacings.
