Well I'm the new proud owner of a 2017 Foreman..

I have it in my garage that is about 200 feet away from my house and I don't have a clear view of the garage.

The garage doesn't have any electricity and it has 2 large windows that can easily be broken and my atv stolen.

I do have insurance but don't want to deal with the headaches involved with it being stolen.

The garage does lock but I am considering getting a big tool box to lock things.. and secure it to the concrete somehow.. and then I'd like to chain up the ATV somehow and drill a hole in the concrete and secure it.

Any suggestions?

I would figure out how to get power out there but in the meantime suggest: a) address the windows, i.e., like bars or 2x4" across them where it wouldn't be easy to get in and curtains, so people can't see in and curtains allow you to open/close them at will; b) I would get 2-3 deer cams and have them placed strategically where you would likely get their vehicle picture (tag is best) when parking and around the garage and c) I would find a way to make removing the 4 wheeler couldn't be easily moved, chain it to the concrete.

Cameras will help for insurance if ever the headache arises. Covering up the windows so you can't see inside the garage from the outside or even barricade them like alloutdoors mentioned.

If you're really uneasy, I think you were already on the right track to secure it to the concrete. Thieves are usually lazy and try to go in and out quick. If they need to screw around with grinders to cut a chain; it discourages them. Also if they can't see what's inside it usually doesn't motivate them as much to go in. You could also put stickers "Camera surveillance" in those windows.

Put a GPS tracker on the machine, set up some cameras, good insurance. Keep the garage locked. If your going to chain it make sure it's at least 3/8" higher the grade the better. I wouldn't even think about something less than a grade 70.

Trackers are useless, you can find a tracker with a wire tracer.

Best way is noise, any thief isn't going to hang around for long if you rig an alarm up to a Clackson siren or something similar. You can do that via a 12v truck battery too. Noise is key for security.

Secondly, bolt a security post onto the floor, chop the top off just below your rear axle, then fab a strong (1/2" steel) hinge over the top that incorporates a box to hide a padlock in. If that makes no sense I'll draw it up later on and post a picture, you'll need fabrication equipment for the second though obviously.

I don't know about that, nobody would expect one on an ATV they really aren't common, and you could conceal it, there is hundreds of wires on the machine your not going to ever think hey that must go to a GPS tracker. JMO

Or these... These are sensors that run off 9v batteries, I have 8 sensors all around the yard that surround the shed. In the house I have an alarm that goes off when the beam is moved or broken, it plays a different tone for each alarm and also tells you which 'zone' (sensor) was tripped. Cost around $600 but worth every penny in my opinion.

Before these I had a car alarm rigged up to a 12v battery, this was just a 'google' idea but worked never the less.

Ahh ok, that's fair enough. Trackers are very popular over here see, hence me saying not such a good idea. If your caught with a wire tracer at night or the early hours your definitely going in the slammer here lol.

ATV thefts are so common it's very rare the police will even attend the scene, they just give you a crime number and that's it, no ATV, no Police assistance!!

lol well then thats a very different scene than here. haha. The US is much worse for theft than Canada generally speaking. Where I live theft is pretty rare, about the worst we will get is having your car rummaged through for some change and valuables if you leave it unlocked.

Around here where i live theft is a VERY real problem, at the moment i have a time operated live fm transmitter hidden outside (close to my shop) transmitting on 87.5 to a radio in my house , anything that happens outside from someone driving up to critters messing around in my shop or my yard i hear, can be a bit of a head ache, it even picks up when my central heat and air cycles, cheep but very effective, and I'm always just a few steps from my weapons ....

OP before i did anything I'd be sure to write the vin number of that new machine down

The thing about thieves is...

If they want it bad enough, they are going have it..

SOLAR MOTION LIGHTS!!! They work great!

Lag a good chunky dock ring to the concrete floor in the corner of the garage close to the wall.. And weld the anchor bolt nuts.. Back the bike over it and use the smallest piece of chain you can to lock to your swing arm.. This way you can't pull the bike out from the wall to access the chain to hack at it..

Its a pain to bend over to unlock it all the time, but it'll be not going anywhere unless they use a grinder and cutting disk..

Take your key in the house.. and hide your ramps... Don't want to helping them at all.. lol

Lights is another good one ^^^

In a nutshell, think thief... Would you hang around if there were alarms going and you were in the light?! Certainly not for long.

It's already been said, 'if they want it bad enough they'll get it'. You need to make stealing your ATV as difficult as possible, make it so time consuming that it's not worth bothering with.

I've decided to board up the windows with 2x4s and plywood, the windows are half broken/cracked anyways and are a huge eyesore.
I will try to put cedar shingles on the outside so its not obvious that there was a window there before... I will most likely try to light up the garage with a Solar Panel/Battery/LED setup as I won't have any outside light anymore (there wasn't much to begin with).

I'll have to make sure the garage door is secured properly and add a deadbolt to the door.

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys!

I hate to say what all preps I have on the internet , 16 surveillance cameras , 6 signs saying cameras , a dozen motion lights with 2 lights on each , a sign that says " We shot first then ask questions later " and best of all two different neighbors that are retired and home a lot , if anyone is seen in my yard , my phone rings

they just stole two atv from a neighbor 1 block away 2 weeks ago , Polaris 1000 and a 570 , they found one stuck along the nature trail , the older one of course , I really think it was someone he knew that stole them both , as one neighbor seen the guy ride off on one and thought it was one of his friends , but he says he didn't recognize the description

I don't know about LO-JACK ( trackers ) , my buddy got his $70k King Ranch truck stolen from a Saints game at the Super Dome 2 years ago , it was 3 hours after he parked when he called the Police and LO_JACK and they never found it yet , so they must have known how to disable it , but then again I know a guy who's Bobcat was stolen and they found it 3 states over the next day

buy some video camera's, mount them facing your garage !, cover the windows. I put up camera's all around my house here, can't step foot on my property without being recorded, 80 ft night vision, motion activated, well worth the money.
