I recently bought lightly used stock tires and wheels from a 2015 Rancher. They are going on a 2007 Rancher. The wheels and tires are both the exact same size but the rears are put on the wheel the opposite way...the offset is opposite. Neighbors seem to think that I cant just flip the tire and bolt on backwards because wheel won't be flush against the plate because of the wheel design it looks to be exact opposite. Not sure how to ask this but are the old and new wheels exact mirror opposites like the difference between right and left). Do I need to mount the newer tires on the old wheels? I could care less if the valve stem is inside if I just flip them but I don't want to do any damage to quad. Any input would be great. Thx in advance

pretty simple answer: lug nut hole should tell you which way the lugs should go on ?, and two: the tire pattern ( lugs ) should face the correct way ?, most tires ( not all ) have an arrow on the side wall, showing you which way the tire rotates.

As shadetree said, only one way. Your nut is a taper fit into the wheel, if you take a close look you'll see which way they fit by looking at the taper in the wheel, there will be light abrasion where the nut sits.

Edit: The inflation valve should also be on the outside.

that raised lip and counter sink on the rim that the lug nut seats in is called "coined" , I have seen people run them backwards and not do any thing , and have seen people grind the lip off so they fit flush and use a large drill bit and put the counter sink on the other side , my buddy has a 88 300 2wd which has a front rim that is unique , he couldn't find the right rims and did that to his , and it has been that way for a long time , I wouldn't do it but it is out there

I didn't think about the direction of tire tred. That and from what I'm understanding from y'all is that wheels only mount in one direction correct? That makes the case that I need to have the tires mounted on old wheels. I knew which way the original newer tires/wheels were mounted on the 2015 Rancher I bought them from because the abrasion from lugs and valve stem, was just asking if I could bolt them on the opposite way on my 07' Rancher. I've seen a couple posts about taking wheels and flipping them inside out (without remounting tire) and bolting on that way. They must have stock spacers or hubs that are out farther on the newer Ranchers to account for offset. Interesting that they switched that up. Good to know that wheels are only mountable in one direction. Thanks for all he help fellas.

On the old steel wheels you can flip them, especially on something like a Rancher or 300 with the brake inboard. If you try to run them with the valve stem in on something like a Foreman with the brake panel out by the wheel, if you run into some thick weeds etc that ball up around the hub that debris will rip out the valve stem.

On a SRA 420 you'd be fine if they're the basic stamped steel wheels. Pop out the center caps, put the wheels on "backwards", get the lugs good and tight, and put the center caps back in facing outwards.

If you want to get fancy and bevel the holes for the lug nuts you can, but I didn't.

Sounds like you bought IRS wheels and are putting them on an SRA machine.

You could also simply buy a couple of spacers for the rear wheels, and run them the "right" way.
