Trying to get some parts to Sam. I didn't figure shipping would be cheap going to the UK, but was kinda floored when I saw the rates.

Box is 20.3lbs, 16x13x13

First class USPS can't go over 4lbs, so priority is $120.

FedEx I get a discount through my account and it's still $199.

Anyone know of a less expensive way to mail a box that size to the UK?

Do you have any small shipping companies that work on an auction basis? We have Shipley and parcels2go, younlost the parcel on the site and they all put in their bids to take it. Then you pick the cheapest basically.
Not sure wether that would work for air mail though.

Edit: Can you send over a longer period of time? 30-40 days? That would come by boat maybe rather than air, possibly cheaper? Just guessing here, I could be wrong.

Well that's what I was asking here.

US mail first class would be the logical choice, but nothing over 4lbs, so that won't work here.

Any other shipping companies other than USPS, FEDEX, UPS?

This is a couple of 500 Foreman CV's, a 300 clutch basket, and a couple of little odds and ends, thus the 20+ lbs.

You know, I may still have the box that my disc brake conversion came in, hopefully there’s a label on it with a shipping company, I’ve got to pop out in an hour (10pm) to check horses so I’ll have a rummage down the shed.

Wonder how highlifter ship tyres for free, they would ship me 4 29.5 outlaws for free!! They certainly wouldn’t be cheap to post would they!

Edit: How about DHL?

Not sure how big the box is that you have, but does USPS have any flat rate boxes for international? I don't ship international myself anymore for my eBay sales. I use the eBay global shipping program where I ship it to their hub in Kentucky and then they handle it from there. I never even see what the buyer pays for the rest of the trip.

I looked for the disc conversion box, appears that I threw it away.

That’s a good call actually, list it as ‘one for sam’ or something odd that nobody else would think to type in the search bar. Don’t do it now though, I’m off to bed soon. Everything from the US I get through eBay goes through the Kentucky hub according to the tracking.
Be interesting to see the price difference.

IF time is NO issue, by boat is cheapest!!!!! I've compared air freight vs boat & HUGE difference. I've shipped that way a few times now to UK & Australia.
