Hi all,
So I bought this bike "running" around Christmas and yes though it does run, the ES transmission has never worked. I can shift the transmission manually and the gear indicators and neutral light all light up properly. I haven't tried the reverse light yet. I turn on the key and it blinks 3 times continuously. The battery is good and holds a steady charge above 12.45V and the voltage is over 13V when engine is running. I have purchased 3 new angle sensors, one from Partszilla and two from my local Honda dealership.
I have done the following:
1) I have checked all connections, cleaned them with electrical contact cleaner, and put dielectric grease in all connections.
2)Downloaded the repair manual and have followed the troubleshooting guide in section 20. Because its giving error code 3 I go to page 20-7.
3)Measured 5.4k Ohms between Red/Black and Blue/Green
4)It appears the sensor is installed properly. I have removed it and inspected the shaft and the sensors and it appears to be good. The repair manual references page 20-9 as though it will show how to check if its installed properly, but there's nothing to that effect on page 20-9.
5)Continuity between the angle sensor yellow/blue and the 22P yellow/blue
6)When I get to the step where it wants me to connect both the 22P connector and the sensor connector (3P), and measure voltage between Black/Red and Blue/Green - that's where I get stuck - how do I measure this? there's no place to measure this when they're both connected. I took some sharp test leads and pierced the insulation but it didn't measure any voltage. I know I have continuity as I measured a resistance in step 3.
7) So I purchased a new computer from Partszilla. installed it and it didn't help - still no voltage there.
Any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated - I'm really frustrated with this thing!
And I have another issue. Related? - Don't know.
Under the seat near the battery there is a black electrical device (Is it a relay?). Wired into it is a wire with a male and female connector. If I connect these two and turn on the key, the 30A fuse blows. What is this wire for? Pictures attached.
