I posted a while back that my HMF performance slip on my 08 420 didn't fit. This is getting frustrating as everything I have bought performance wise this year so far has been problematic( front rims for my truck were wrong and had to be shipped back, spindles I bought for it caused track issues and had to be replaced, tune for my car was worthless and gained me nothing, and so on).

Anyway HMF informed me that they had a jig issue in July and August with their 07 and 08 420 slip ons. Basically, somebody messed up the jig and they ended up welding the mounting tabs on in the wrong spots on a run of pipes. In fashion that fits with everything else, I of course got a crooked one and the lower mounting tab is nowhere near my frame mount.

They are willing to exchange my pipe for another, if I send this one in. I am not liking that I am on the hook for shipping because they can't build their pipes properly, but what do you do. Either way maybe second time around I will get one that actually will bolt up.

Either way excersize caution if you want an HMF pipe as who knows how many of these crooked ones are still sitting on warehouse shelves.

As long as they'll get you a new one with no charge. That happened to me with my warn skid plate. One of the mounting brackets was supposed to hahave 6 bends in it, and they sent me a flat piece of steel instead. Called them up and they sent me a new one in a few days.

IMO, they should just ship you the new, corrected one and not worry bout the old one...... similar story... I bought a wood-burning furnace a few years ago... after one year of use, both blowers started to seize up on me.... called the company (I'll use their name because their customer service is AWESOME) US Stove co., and I had two brand new, improved blowers at my doorstep within 24hrs. of the phone call (which was at 2am when I was working on the old ones at -5f)... it's all about customer service and who is willing to go the extra step to satisfy said customer.

you would think they would send you a new one and if they really needed the old one back they would send it with a return label so your not out ride time and they get their product. you are correct customer service is way down

The size of the box is going to cost me at least $100 to ship if I send it the slowest way possible. I wouldn't call that no charge and I don't see why I am covering that. At least I kept my stock pipe so the quad doesn't have to sit without an exhaust while they dither around. I can't return it to the dealer but I think with all this in mind, they can deal with the warranty crap. When they get the replacement I might try and exchange it for a Supertrapp..... or just Kijiji this thing and buy a Supertrapp anyhow.

I had problems a couple years ago with the SLP long tubes I put on my SRT8 Charger. The midpipes they sent me to connect to my exhaust were the wrong size. I contacted them and in less than a week I had a new set of mids sitting in my shop. I asked them if they wanted mine back and the guy told me not to worry about it. It would be nice if this worked the same way, but no of course not.

I am glad companies don't stand behind their products with any level of confidence. I already know that. GM won't warranty a known slipping transmission in their $hitty trucks ( 6L80E and 6L90E) so why would anyone else give decent service anymore.

I know it sounds like I have a terrible attitude but look at it from my perspective. I have bought a few thousand dollars worth of stuff this year and not one piece has shown up and actually worked, fit, or been correct. It is really starting to tick me off.

Dropped the pipe off with the dealership today. The counterguy I dealt with ( also talked to him on the phone previously) agreed that I should not be paying shipping on a product the manufacturer is admitting to a defect on. Needless to say I want to see what I get back.

Contact HMF and ask to speak with a manager. Tell them that this is completely unacceptable and that they need to pay for the return shipping. If they don't want to tell them you want all of your money back and you are going to go a different route.

This makes me wanna call them

I am getting a new pipe and there is no shipping costs to me. It probably will just come from the dealers warehouse supplier and not HMF directly. I am tired of fighting with stupid, plain and simple.

Went to the dealer yesterday and cancelled my HMF. There has been a bunch of them sent in for recall and no real timeline of when they are going to be coming back. It has already been a month now anyway. I ordered a Supertrapp IDSX and it will be there in a few days. I will have to pick it up after my next 10 day shift but that's fine.
