doing a tune up on my '96 TRX300FW for the weekend and doing the first air filter cleaning since i have been using the quad (handed down through the family) and its very very lightly ridden most of the year

i did oil in the fall before storing it and did a new spark plug for the first time in god knows how long

but my question is what kind of solvent cleaner should i use? and for the oil it says to soak in, can i use the aFe or K&N oil i have in the garage for my truck?
:icon_ peace:

thanks!

You can use a mild dish soap and warm water, just be sure to rinse it really good, and DON'T wring the excess moisture out of it....lightly squeeze it. As for the oil, any kind will work. I just use the Honda GN4 as that is what I have in my shop. The main purpose of the oil on the filter is to keep it from drying out and to help trap the dust & dirt particles.

I use the PJ-1 spray foam filter cleaner and the PJ-1 spray foam filter oil works great you can get about 10 cleanings and oilings out of a can.

Forgot to mention that i clean my air filters just about every time i take them out to ride, a clean air filter is the life of a quad, and clean oil.

When you get the battery charged, if it still won't start, try jumping the two posts on the solenoid or starter relay with a screwdriver and see if it will start. If it does, then it's your solenoid(starter relay).
