went for a little quick ride down the road, 5th gear cleaning some cobb webs out. a raptor 660r rides up besides me, then hammers down and is GONE!!!

stopped for a min and chatted. filter and piped, says it runs 90 or so....

i know i only have a 300, and its a utility 4 wheeler, but i feel like i just got :icon_ owned:

Yeah, you won't be able to keep up with any sport quad on a Fourtrax 300, but they're not made to do that.

Yeah my friend with the YFZ450 does the same thing.. but when it came to pulling out another quad and driving DOWN into a creek and going UP STREAM to get back out he chickend out.... I however did not. Every quad has its place.. the 300 is not a racer, it runs well, and its damn good at what its MEANT to do but you have to decide on what you want out of your ride. We plan to keep our 300 forever, its good for everything except going fast... somewhere down the line we want to get a Rhino or a Polaris RZR that we can both enjoy and have a good time. And if I come across a 400ex for a good price we might do that also. I guess what I'm saying is you can't bring a knife to a gun fight.. LOL

YES! and thats what I want and EXPECT out of my UTILITY quad. I want it to be there ready to go day or night rain or shine I need it to be dependable. Now if I had a sport machine and ran the living piss out of it day and night I couldn't exactly expect that. Thats why you can't have your cake and eat it too... LOL

90 is a bit of a stretch for a Raptor with very little mods! I am not profesional at this but I would ???? that.
As for you and your quad, You have a great quad and I would not be deppressed at all!

Don't be fooled. He will be lucky to hit high 70s. You need motor work like what 69 has on his 450 to pull 90mph. Then there is the case ofr stock gearing not allowing the bike to move that fast. Not with a stock rev limiter. He was pushing 75 at most.

yea after talking to him for a bit he sounded like he was kinda stretching his stories. younger guy.

hopefully i can get him to ride out to the power lines where all the creeks/hills/mud pits are and what not. see how that goes.

nah, i wanna get an ex one day tho, i knew the 4 wheeler was slow, but i did not relies it was THAT slow.

I agree with Tom and Red. I wouldn't there, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't going 90. You can't believe what most people tell you when it comes to how fast an ATV will run. Just about every time they will tell you it goes faster than it does.

he wasent doing 90. if i had to guess, i can run 50-55 i would say he might have hit 65, 70 at max. it got up there quick tho from 50.

when we stoped and talked he said it went 92 with gps duct taped to the gas tank before....... his stories were kinda, ehhh. i tried to find him to go out to the power lines today but no luck so far.

I have a hand held GPS and if the lake bottoms ever dry up this summer i am going to top out the 450 and see what it will do will post results at later date, i know my 700 Grizzly will do 65 on the lake bottom.

polaris, old, automatic, 4wd, 350, 2 stroke.


it beat me. it was a pretty good run tho, i was right on his tail. down low i would have him but then he would pull out on me then top speed was pretty close. he could jet off on me at about 30 when he is in his powerband tho when we were rolling. for a big, heavy, old, 4x4 it moved out pretty good.

cant wait to get the ball rolling and get some mods on mine.
