as some of yall know i run an 09 rancher 420 with a stock exhaust, and while i have the money for a tuner and exhaust i dont like the idea of spending that much, so can i run one without the other? for a short(ish) time?

You can run the tuner without the exhaust but not the exhaust without the tuner. And with just the tuner you will see very little if any improvement. If you try running just the exhaust you will make the machine run very lean and hot. Risk damaging the engine....
