Simple, Is it OEM? If it isn't an OEM Honda replacement, then its cheap china garbage. Ya get what ya deserve when you buy ATV parts, so purchase wisely (just once!) at all times. Unless you are very wealthy of course... with a lot of free time to waste swapping garbage on and off your bike. In that case, order up!

I'm not a fan of chineeseum. I do prefer to buy made in USA, Japan, EU, GB, AU, etc. That said; here's the appeal of this bit.

It comes with 2 filters; 1 for the original horizontal bottom of the housing location (no longer available from Honda). The 2nd filter fits the redesigned (forced to buy this >$40 kit when you need a new filter) vertical location.

A fuel pump is included with the 2 filters. If you have a dead pump, the only way to get a new one from Honda is to buy the whole fuel pump housing. $90 is the best online price I found.

I know I need to replace the filter. My rancher is an 07 420fm that I've owned for 6 years. It's primary function is snow plowing my drive a few times each winter. It's only other use is towing a trailer from brush pile to brush pile for loading of tree debris each spring. I've never changed the filter. I doubt the previous owner (who I rescued this unit from) changed it. I'm guessing its long past due.

Symptoms indicate a dead pump. I now have one for less than half the price of the mandated Honda filter upgrade kit alone. An eighteen dollar diagnostic tool on hand when I resume the task. If it turns out that this replacement pump is bad, worst case scenario? I have a replacement filter on hand for the next time the OEM unit I wind up buying needs service.

I may well replace this pump with the $100 complete and upgraded Honda pump assembly, in the future, when this one fails. However, I must say that the decision to buy non OEM parts was made easier by Honda not selling the pump separate from the housing. I would have paid at least twice as much for this with Hondas name on the package...gladly.

It crossed my mind that Honda may source the part from the same Chinese manufacturer that built the one I have in my hands. I'm pretty sure they do take advantage of manufacturing sources in that country as OEM supplier.

Why Honda doesn't sell a replacement pump is a mystery and an aggravation.
Instead, we are forced to buy an entire housing.

I understand why you tried 3 of them. At least they come with a filter you can save as a spare.

so you gotta buy the whole thing from Honda, instead of just a single part ?, i don't see the problem ?!. if i had to choose between a 10 dollar china junk part ?, or a 100 dollar oem part ( hopefully from japan ! ), i'd spend the 100 bucks all day long !!, why ya ask ?, simple..because i know it will outlast, and work tons better than that stupid china junk !!!. only way we as Americans are going to stop or slow down these china parts coming here ?..IS TO STOP BUYING THEM !!!.

I am glad all my atv's are gravity feed and no electric fuel pump to worry about ----------- my friends with the Can-Ams buy an automotive application fuel pump , I can't remember the model vehicle they get it for , but I have watched them change them before ----seems to me the pumps are not very tolerant of water being pumped thru them , early Cannys had a bad design on the fuel tank fill cap and would get water in the fuel a lot , and the water eats up the fuel pump ----I agree with anything made in china is a very , very lesser quality product
