Fun bikes, all of them!

I know of a guy who buys wrecked VFRs and puts the motors on snowmobiles! He deletes the belt drive on the sleds and machines his own shaft drives for them. His most recent transplants are done with big motors (1200s or bigger maybe? can't remember) & DCT autoshifts. They are wicked fast, even with the long mountain tracks he puts on them. I can only wonder what those would be like on a bike!

Honda came out with the VFR1200 in 2009 with the DCT option. I love V-4's. Some say its a compromise between an I-4's screaming top end power and a twin's torque. I'd tend to agree, but I don't consider that a compromise...just the best of both worlds. :smile

I can't imagine a 1200 powered snowmobile! But I guess some sled drivers couldn't imagine running one on the road with distracted drivers and oblivious deer. :eek

Yep, I'm OK with speed on a sled until 90-95 mph on open roads or in fields, then I'm reminding myself that my reflexes (and my luck!) are not what they used to be! On a bike that threshold is a bit higher, but its always a brief run... I chop it back to a safe cruising speed like a wimp. :)

30 years ago that wasn't ever the case. Those look like fun bikes, wish I could still ride something like that.

Are you from the Lake Superior area? My Canadian friends and I rode from the Soo up to the northern part of it in 2006. I had a red VFR then.

Your far from a wimp in my opinion, I'm 30 and like my body intact, just the way it is! A quick blast I'm comfortable with, the more you do it the more likely you are to 'think' your used to those speeds, when, in reality your not.
I'm assuming snowmobiles are similar to ATV's when you have a crash... Like a magnet to your but??!!

Yup all nice looking bikes! Is that a honda rubicon ?
It's just a lowly Rancher with E shift. I thought the E shift would be easier on my wife. For the first 20 minutes I kept trying to change gears with my toe and I was kicking myself for spending extra money on the option, but I eventually got used to it. I was also trying to twist the grip to give it gas.

Switching to reverse is the best part: stop, push button, squeeze rear brake lever, push down button while watching gear window count down, then you can backup.
After doing this for awhile an ES driver gets picky about where they park?

I can laugh about it now

Motion Pro makes two twist throttle conversions for your wheeler. I have the same wheeler. I've converted every wheeler I've ever owned to a twist. The 07-13 conversion kit is the same as the 14 -17. Every "bike guy" I know loves the twist. Folks brought up on the thumb don't like it so much. With out prejudice I can say that on long rides the twist is much better than the thumb.
Several here will say "Honda spent good money on developing the safest blah blah blah"......The truth is if I can bounce 30 MPH through whoops and ruts and rocks and ruts and jumps etc. with a twist throttle on a dirt bike then I can ride a wheeler. Oh! one important edit here. Put it in NUETRAL if you get off while running.......otherwise it will run over you when you throw your leg over the seat and use the grips to pull you up! LOL done that!

I never rode a 700 or 750 Magna (V45), but I have ridden a 500 (V35) Magna and 1100 (V65) Magna. The V65 was a beast when I rode it back in 1984 and was a big part of what made me seek out the VF500F Interceptor for my first bike!
