I read an article in dirt wheels magazine a couple months ago saying that up until 2005, the 400ex wasn't available with reverse.
Now i was wondering, if you had a pre-05 400, would it be possible to add reverse to it?
Any idea what would be involved?

Switch motors to start with

they changed the motor after 2005?
i did not know, although there is much I don't know about the 400

They changed the tranny. Same motor as far as I know

yup the engine side is the same but the crankcase/tranny was redesigned for rewind... I think they did this after the 450R cam alive. and the 400EX bacame the top trail quad.

It was just something i was looking into...
for my next quad, reverse is a must.
I can't count how many times a use reverse,
all i ride is trails and they aren't always the best haha
