Less then 40 hours, only used to pull deer out of the woods since hauled off the lot new.

Oil and Filters changed twice its whole life.

Fuel Switch:
ON Position: Sputters
OFF Position: Off
RES Position: Runs great

I unscrewed the bowl, nothing on the screen or in the bowl, shine a flashlight in there and its clean as a whistle. Shine a light in the tank, no rust or debris, clean.

Always starts and runs great if on RES, real puzzler.

Any Ideas?

Thanks, Brian

Welcome to the forums. There would have to be something in the screen in the tank or something hung in the cut off valve. I would remove the screen from the tank and clean it and I would take the cut off valve apart and clean it, not just the bowl, but the valve itself.

I figured that would be my next step, full tank none the less.

Seeing as I can't have the meat wagon out of commission for deer season, I think this will be a winter project for the man cave.

Thanks for the reply, Brian

Here we go.......well I have been hoping to tackle this fuel issue over the winter after deer season, but fat chance for me.

I now have until Sat. morning to fix the problem, I pulled the petcock off.....it flows perfect out the spout, same goes for RES, and off works great too......I pulled a checked the screen too, hardly any junk in the bottom of the tank.

I collected the gas and flushed the tank, I spit shined the petcock and blew it out....nothing ( no rebuild kit available, just a screen kit with two o-rings)

I think my problem is the carb itself, is there anything special I need to do or know before I take it apart?

Before taking the pilot screw out, turn it all the way in and lightly seat it and count the number of turns. That way, you will be able to put it back to the correct amount of turns when you get done. Also, when removing the pilot screw, don't lose the tiny o-ring, washer and spring. Most of the time the o-ring will stay hung down in the hole and you will have to use a tiny flat screwdriver to dig it out.

Just remove all the jets, float, float needle, and pilot screw and clean them good. Don't forget to blow air through all the passageways in the carb body while you have the jets and pilot screw out.

if you turn the pilot screw all the way in and your engine dosen't stall or it barely changes your Idle circuit is stopped up. But clean as suggested
