Guys-

I'm about to change the oil here, and just wanted to make sure I got the right oil...

I just got the Honda HP4M 10W-40 oil. Will that work?!?

I was going to go with the synthetic type, but just wanted to check with all you guys before I actually put it in there.

By the way- got the carb rebuilt... Just waiting on some screws to come in because whoever (shop) put the screws to hold the top part of the carb back together stripped them they were put back on...

In the process of re-doing the gas tank, but in the meantime I found the plastic version on sale online and got that coming. As soon as I get the new screws in, we should be up and running!

Does your oil indicate a JASO MA rating in the fine print on the back of the jug? If not, I would go back and get the Honda GN4 type of oil.

That's what I get for ordering it late at night...

I'll just get the regular GN4.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to do the "double check" and glad I did!
In the future, if you do want to run full synthetic, there are lots of wet clutch safe options.
Well, I DO want to run a full synthetic... I was just going to get the Honda GN4 because there is a Honda dealership not too far from where I live.

Is there a Synthetic version of Rotella 10W-40 that would work?!?

I'd appreciate any help.

I run full synthetic Castrol in my atvs, and motorcycles as well, great oil, kinda pricey ?, but worth every dime !. I buy it at advanced auto parts store, about 10 bucks a qrt.

The full synthetic Rotella that I and lots of others run is the T6 5w40. It runs $4 a quart if you buy it by the gallon and get the $5 per gallon mail in rebate (on up to 4 gallons a year).
