I was warming up he 98 300FW that I purchased last week to change the oil when I noticed the the lower right bolt that holds the oil filter cover on was broken off.

Is there a trick to removing the broken bolt. It does not have enough sticking out of the case to grab it with a pair of visegrips.

I have drill one out and used an easy out on a car motor but I want to get my ducks in a row before I do this Honda.

Any advice or pointers with this problem.

Thanks in advance.

There is a bit that you can chuck in your drill that acts like an ease out I think you can buy it at wal-mart

i see alot of these come in the shop. first and formost, get a punch mark dead centered on the bolt, then get a reversed drill bit set and start drilling. it will most likely come out on its own. be sure and replace the other two because if the prev owner tightened that one too much, i bet the other two are close to breaking too. look at the threads right under the head of the bold and they will prob look like an hour glass where they have been streched.

ps, what does the wdp stand for in your name? and what part of mississippi are u from? i have lots of friends in s. ms around biloxi from playing paintball tourneys at swat pb.
