if your trying to put a '97 engine in another frame..they all are pretty much the same frame all the way back until about ' 89 i believe..only thing they changed as for how the motor changed..is the way the top motor mount's are above the rocker box. this is the only thing i know of. keep in mind..if you change frames..then you have to change out all the wiring..c.d.i box..all of the electronics..the switches throttle control..stuff like them..can be left on the old frames..your main thing is the wiring..and reg/rec..and c.d.i and the alarm units. everything else will swap out.

Welcome to the forums. I agree with Shadetree. It should fit any Fourtrax 300 frame as long as you have the mounting brackets that bolt from the valve cover to the frame. You have to have the brackets that came from the frame that you are going to use, because the earlier models had a different frame than the later models and as long as you have the brackets from the frame that you are going to use, it will work.
