The problem is the fuel is not reaching the carburetor fast enough and is stalling however if i pump the primer it will run for a few seconds until the fuel in the bowl is gone and then shuts off. I recently adjusted the valves to stock .006 and had to take tank off and just put it back on to get it ready for a ride but it wont stay running whether idling or reving it. I had bought a new carburetor because for me it was easier to do that then take it out and rebuild it. i adjusted the carb. The old fuel line was brittle and broke at the nipple of the old carb so i figured why not replace everything (new petcock, fuel line, inline fuel filter) and put it all on but noticed fuel does not flow real well but if i take the fuel line off it flows good which leaves me to think the in line fuel filter is not allowing gravity to do its thing and pull the fuel into the carb. I've turned the fuel vent on and taken gas cap off and it didn't seem to help at all. i also recently put a small, small amount of sea-foam like chemical to clean out everything because prior to me obtaining the 4x4 it had old gas ran through it and i wanted to clean all the gunk that might have collected from running it during that time and it sitting for a year. I also put a new air filter in it and have not adjusted the carb for it yet but that shouldn't affect the fuel not reaching the carb. I am almost positive that the inline filter is the problem but wanted to see what everyone else thinks. I also noticed that the petcock nipple is a little smaller than stock but it should still be providing more than enough fuel.

I included a picture of the fuel line setup. it used to sag a little then go up into the carb but since it wasnt getting enough fuel i re routed it to try and make it go straight into the carb from petcock but looking at it now it would be worse since gravity isn't in play as much as it would be with it sagging a little.

Fishfiles is right, it’s stands a very good chance that it’s the aftermarket carb. It stands a very high chance of being a Chinese carb, China haven’t perfected the art of making carbs yet, there junk.

Could be the carb like Fish and Sam said. I see a couple of more problems too. Your fuel filter is too big for that set up. It’s not filling up enough to keep fuel in the line going into the carb.. Also, it looks like your fuel line is kinked after the filter slowing the flow down..

Try a smaller filter, get the kink out and see if that helps. What kind of carb did you get?? A rebuild kit is usually $20 or less.. may have to go that route..

Good luck! Let us know

for one, that is not a trx300 carb, two, it is a aftermarket carb..china carb, 100%. I know it is, because I see the place where the heater screws into the carb body, only trx350 ranchers and up has this !.

I guess ill just try and find a new one thats not poorly made and properly fits. When i got the carb i was looking at the speed on which it would arrive and not the quality due to needing it before a ride. I also noticed today that the primer pump was leaking when it would retract.
Looking back now i wish i just got the rebuild kit, got my hands dirty and have a functioning carb and not a cheap piece of crap

Got a new carb coming and has plenty of good reviews to give me piece of mind that it will work. Also going to go with no inline filter as i got it to see what was getting through the filter in the petcock and since it caused more harm than good and didnt show anything ill just stick to no filter.

unless its a oem Honda carb ?, it will never run right, no matter how many reviews it has.

Installed the new (used) carb and it ran good. Only way it would stay cranked is to have choke on which means i gotta adjust idle however the new carb did the trick and is purring again. It also sounds like it used to with this carb than the chinese garbage. Also replaced steering bushing while i was at it so 2 birds with one stone. Primer pump leaks however that can be fixed by cutting fuel off and running whats left in the line and bowl out so im not in much of a haste to fix it until i need to clean the carb. Thanks everyone for the insight!
