I was lucky and found one of these winch mount kits on eBay a few weeks ago and now it looks like another seller has a few more kits for sale at half the price I paid. Since I have mine already just thought I'd share the info since these ones are very hard to find. Model number for these Warn winch mounts is 28878 and these work for model years 1990, 1991, and 1992 Fourtrax TRX300FW.

I wonder if that plate will work on the '88 trx300fw I am building ?. I don't see how those u-clamps are able to bolt the plate to the down tubes on the '88 frame ?. when it comes time to put a pro vantage 2500S on this project, I will go to my local steel company, and have them cut and bend me a 3/16 inch steel plate, drill the holes for the winch and mounting hardware, and make it work.

I don’t know of any differences between the 88 frames and any other 1st gen frame. They are generally regarded to be all the same. If someone has any info that shows otherwise feel free to share it.....

mac, I just looked at the fich on partzilla, and what I see very odd is the front of the frame on this '88 trx300fw !. the frame they show looks to me, that its set up for the old strut shocks, and not reg shocks ?!, very odd to say the least. this '88 I am building does not have the upper mounts for old struts, it has a place to mount a reg shock. have a look ---> https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/1988/trx300fw-a-fourtrax/frame . see the upper strut mounting on the frame ?. pretty sure this '88 I am doing is not like this frame.

Don’t pay any attention to the parts fiches for the old frames they all show the 2wd frames for some reason

ah..ok..i thought that was very strange to show frames with old struts..lol.
