hi there I'm having a issue with my 89 honda fourtrax 300 2x4 its never given me issues till now as it has no spark, I've replaced coil and cdi still no spark, was running funny and died when problem appeared haven't seen spark since, any ideas? all help is very appreciated as I need to get it going to continue my restore on it

Is the spark plug bad? Is the battery at 12 volts? Is the CDI box and the Coil OEM?

spark plugs good I put new one in still nothing replaced cdi box with a aftermarket one got on amazon, coil is an oem coil been running with dead battery for a couple years kick starting it, Never had an issue

That is quite possible. Lets see what the others think. I'm a sport quad guy

I think you may have fried the stator. Running with a bad or no battery can cause this. Consult the service manual (link in my sig block) for diagnosing the stator.

I hope your aftermarket CDI isn’t part of the problem i only buy OEM parts

thanks was thinking that just wanted some input, didn't want to dig into it if it not the problem lol, ill have to order a service manual and a multi meter to check stator

just a thought.. if you have to replace the stator and prefer kicking to buying batteries.. it may be possible to take the electronics back to the kick only 250x days .. I have a engine some where round here .. used to have a 250x and 300ex .. 250 is now a 70" rigid 4cylinder dirt dragster ...

but from all my research back then the 300ex is a factory stroker 250x +electric start and other then the electronics changing a little every so many years it is still the same animal

I would lean towards the CDI off amazon either being the wrong one or Chinese junk
