Hey there everyone! I'm new to the forum, but not new to Honda forums. I have a Honda Element that I sometimes need advice on.

Anyways I bought an 88 Fourtrax 300 4x4 about a month ago and it runs quite well. I bought it specifically for plowing my driveway (about 600 ft dirt road) and for carrying cut firewood from my property.

Last week my dad, bless him, bought me a Warn plow and tube kit. He told me all I need is to get a winch and a universal mount kit and I'd be set. But the more research I do, the more discouraged I become. I can't seem to find a mounting kit for an atv this old. The guys at Warn said the universal mounting kit may work, but that I would have to do some fabricating. I'm not entirely sure what that would entail. I've got a sawzall and some other tools, but I don't have a welder or anything like that.

I was hoping either someone knew of a mount I could buy, or if the 93-00 warn mounts will work, or if anyone has pictures or blueprints for a mount they have doctored or created.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I believe it is supposed to snow this weekend here in Northern Vermont.

From what I gather the 88-92 frames are different to the 93-97 frames, I not know what is different though. However, @fishfiles willknow the differences, I’m sure he mentioned he was looking in to making a winch mount for his.

The conventional mounting method is to U bolt a mount plate to the frame. So in theory you can cut a piece of 1/4 plate to size, U bolt it to the frame and mount the winch to that. If you can fit it in a gap and use a flat plate you’ll get away without welding.

I never physically tried to put a 2nd gen mount into the 1st gen frame , you can pretty see it won't work when you have both gens side by side , it isn't close , I looked pretty good for a prefabbed mount for my 92 and never did find one , never found any threads , you- tube videos or info on how people do it , except for welding the plate to the frame tubes , which I don't want to do , I am in the precess of making one , but it is on the slow cook setting at the moment and it is going to have welding involved in it's fabrication

Welcome to the forum. If you can post pictures (online or your own) of both the mount bottom of the frame, anything that would help us who don't have experience with your exact setup, but have lots of similar experience, please do. If you need 10 posts to add pictures, nobody will be bothered by repeated posts to get your count up.
