Hello All,

For the past 6 weeks I've been rebuilding my Blue '87 TRX350D including:
  • New Timing Chain
  • New CDI
  • New Fuel Pump
  • Carb Rebuild (Honda Kit, not aftermarket)
  • Valve Adjustment (.003"), drags slightly per Service Manual
  • Decompression cable (min/Max slack is 2.85mm)
  • New Spark Plug
  • All new fasteners / bolts from Honda
  • New Gaskets and Dowels, Bond for attaching rocker box / valve cover
Now back together, she's ready to start but she won't go. When I turn the machine to the on position, fuel pump makes it's noise as it's supposed to (petcock is to the ON position). After hitting start (and it fails), the fuel pump continues to make it's noise for 2-3 seconds after the button has been released.

I try giving it some throttle and it sounds like she's more likely to go but she doesn't turnover. Battery is at 12.4V but that's after numerous attempts. It's now on a trickle charge.

Any ideas?

Hello All,

I have no idea what the issue was, but I did the following that fixed it and got it to start:
  • Pilot Screw Adjustment
  • New Spark Plug
  • Fuel Pump Test (verify flow rate)
  • Replace harness for spark plug
Now I have a huge valve clanging issue ... see new thread in a moment.

By the way. Is it just me or does this new forum format really suck?
