Hello All,

My CV Joint Boot split in half on the right half-shaft and I can't seem to get access to it.

I've got a bunch taken apart as you can see in the pictures below, but it looks like I need a weird-size allen-head or male-impact bit to take out a funky-looking bolt to get the assembly off.

Am I doing something wrong? What gives?

I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Per the Service Guide, looks like what I circled is exactly what I need to get to. The "Upper Kingpin Bolt", or P/N 90111-HA7-670.

The problem is - I have no idea what to remove it with and it doesn't tell you what to use (not that I can find). This is around Page 180 in the Service Manual.
@shadetree - Any ideas?

It's not a bolt hex-head, it's a bolt hex-bit input - that's what's bizarre (what I tried to show with my pictures). I have no way of guessing what size impact-bit hex-head to buy to fit into there to bust that loose.

I'll also need to get repacking grease ... I'll be asking for recommendations on that next that I can get from Advance Auto or Oreilly's...

Yes I know what an Allen-head wrench is! I wrote that in the OP! I'm just having difficulty finding the right size. It's a bizarre bolt! I figured I'd ask to see if someone knows what it is!

Yes sir! I just started pulling bolts til I found one that fit and that was the one. So I'm off to pick up an impact bit in 10mm.

Do you have a recommended CV grease that I could get at a place like Advance Auto or O'Reilly's?

Went to Home Depot and bought a 10mm impact bit and blasted that SOB out and felt like a king afterwards :-D. I went and picked up some Valvoline moly-based grease @ Advance Auto and got the CV-joint out and will start the procedure tomorrow.

I was able to get the big-band to break off but am having a heckuva time to get the small band to bust. Any recommended tool for this?

i use a small screw driver, my hammer, and tap the band out from under the tangs, and re-use the bands.
