i just bought a trx350 4x4 and im wondering if she is worth fixing up a bit . it needs right front half-shaft (clicks when turning) all the plastic is dried out bad (AZ sun will do that) its all there but has lots of cracks and holes . seat is ripped tires are all shot rims have seen better days . no electric start ? (not sure why yet) and it might need a rear wheel hub . everything still works and it runs good the 4x4 works well rides good fells good but needs work . is it worth putting 500-600 into it . oh i paid 200 for it .

welcome to the forums. i saw this same model go for a little over $1100 in decent shape on ebay so i wouldn't put any more than 600 in it. as for the starter, take a good battery and jumper cables and hook the negative up the the frame and the positive to the nut on the starter that holds the wire on. if nothing happens then your starter is bad, if it works than check the connections and the solenoid and see if anything is wrong.

well..first off..welcome to the forums..second off..are you willing to spend the cash for a bike that old ?..thirdly..getting parts for it is your biggest problem right now..as most..but not all parts !!..have been discontinued...i've owned every year they made that bike..as of right now..i own the '89 trx350d foreman 4x4..simply would not trade it for any newer atv from the show room floor..not because i know how to work on them..it's because i love this bike for what it can do !!..now..back to yours..it's a '' tank ''..best over all pulling..climbing atv you will ever find..plastic..will be hard to find..some things like the fuel pump..forget it..don't make them anymore..and if you do find one..you can bet your last dollar it won't come cheap !!!!...although..there is ways around this problem i have found out. rims..spec the rear right one..will be your big problem finding..that is..if yours is bent..and cant be used ????..other than that..alittle grinding with a wire wheel brush from a bench grinder..and some paint..good as new...if all you spent was 200 bucks..and it runs..i'd say fix it up..just look around for the parts you need..like the front cv axle..ebay..or you can pm me..as i have access to alot of these parts for this bike. anyway..to answer your question..hard to say..if it was me..i'd restore another one in a heart beat.

Welcome to the forum.

I just put around $675 into rebuilding the rear end of my 92 300 Fortrax (new final drive gear and rebuilt brakes), but to me it's worth it. This is a tough machine and it's certainly less expensive than buying a new one. I got a good price on a new final drive, considering one from the dealer is around $1200-1400. Take good care of yours and make sure the gear oil is clean and changed occasionally.

i want to change the diff oils but not sure what type to use . is it just 80-90 or does it take somthing special .
SAE 80 hypoid gear oil. The 80-90 will work, nothing special.

what would a 1987 trx350 be worth if lets say i were to restore it compleatly . ground up .
thats a loaded question slug !..lol...i say this.because it may not be worth much to you..as to someone like me..it may be priceless..you know what i'm saying ?..i've restored mine..and someone offered me 2k for it..keep in mind..it's loaded with brandnew itp mudlites..warn xt25 winch..front cargo box brandnew...and alot of new engine parts..as much as i love cash..lmao..i turned them down..i wouldnt take anything for it. as for yours..if it's fixed up..it's probally worth anywhere from 1200 to 1800 fixed up...oh..by the way..i did retstore mine from the ground up !!.
