Hi all,
A friend has a trx250x that someone tried to steal many years ago. They ripped off the key switch and twisted the wires together but it also had a safety kill switch so they didn't get anywhere. The machine has not run since.
Looking at a wiring diagram it would appear that the key only adds or removes a ground?
If that is the case then those 2 wires should be open for it to run, or I'm I wrong? This is the model w/o electric start (no battery).

Also it would appear that you need a special socket for the spark plug. Thin wall of some size, is it 18 mm or 19 mm?

Thanks

The wireing question im not sure on. But the spark plug socket is a 18mm thin wall. Motion Pro, or Emgo makes them specifically for that quad.

For anyone who has the same problem it does appear that the switches need to be open. untwisted the ignition wires and put in a new spark plug and she fired.

Still has some fuel problems. No surprise that the carb might need some work after setting for so long but that is tomorrows problem.

More than likely the carb will need a very thorough cleaning. You probably won't need to buy a carb kit for it, but if you do stay away from the cheap aftermarket stuff you'll find on fLeebay and amazon 'cause they are usually china garbage. Same goes for ignition switches and other electrical parts. You might find a service manual for your 250x HERE if you haven't gotten one yet.
