Well first off let me say Hello to everyone as I am new to the forum. Just bought an 87 250 for my girlfriend. It ran great when I bought it, pulled it off the trailer to take it for our first run and it went about 20 feet and died, would not start after several min's of kicking. LONG story short I have found that when it stalls it has no spark. Tried soaking the coil and (PCM?) in water but would not stall again and now the thing runs great all the time. {{When will it stall again? 5 miles into the trails of course}}... Anyone out there ever have similar problems or know any test I could try next time it fails, I do not know much about 4 wheelers as I have only been messing with them about a month. Is there a crank sensor? Can I test that coil for power? 12.6 Volt system? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to the forums. It don't have a crank sensor, but it has a pulse generator which would be similar. Usually, when the pulse generator goes bad, they won't start at all. Try checking all your wiring connections and make sure they are clean and tight.

Also, I would put dielectric grease on all the connections.

If you aren't able to read them, you can save them to your computer and then open them and you should be able to zoom in on them.

I wonder why the newer Honda repair manuals don't have resistance tests for the ignition components? They have peak voltage tests, instead.

I attached a picture, hopefully you guys can see it... Try not to laugh to hard though remember this is for my girlfriend...
