I have a 87 trx250x,The rf brake rotor is hung up on the outboard pad to the point were its hard to turn the rotor by hand. The piston moves freely. If I leave the caliper bolts loose the rotor spins free.Basically the outboard pad is to close to the rotor when the caliper bolts are tightened all the way. HELP please!!!

Btw this even happens with the inboard pad pushed away from the rotor.

take the caliper off and the bracket that is mounted to it has two pins that have rubber boots around them that is screwed into the bracket you need to take a hammer and tap the bracket until those pins come out with the bracket then you can clean those pins up and put them back in with some grease smeared on them and it should work. ive had the same problem once you can look at the diagram on this webb site to help see what im talking about :icon_cool:

So basically the caliper bracket is supposed to "float"?

Yes, that's correct.

I agree ^^^^^^ I think at some point all of us have encountered this situation. the calipers do float on the pins kind of like a GM style set-up

Well I've beat the caliper brackets to death[to the point that I bent one] also using rust penetrating oil and heat. These things have not moved! The local salvage yard here has a used pair for $150.00.Unless you have any other ideas?

Thanks for the tip!Do you know what years for the 300ex and 400ex brake calipers that fit mine?
I would say that they're all the same.
