i have a 87 trx250 4 stroke and am trying to remove the drum backing plate from the axle number 5 on the diagram REAR BRAKE PANEL - 1986 Honda TRX250 FOURTRAX

i have a 87 trx250 4 stroke and am trying to remove the drum backing plate from the axle number 5 on the diagram REAR BRAKE PANEL - 1986 Honda TRX250 FOURTRAX

once you get inside the brake drum area..from the axle side..remove the 4 nuts from the backing plate..the plate should come off after this is done.

the only thing left on the axle is this backing plate the bearing in it must be rusted to the axle.

It could be rusted to the axle, because like Shadetree said, the 4 bolts are the only thing holding it on.
